Actually, a better comment would be 'modeled on Contax'. The Nikon
rangefinders are very similar to the Contax and have a similar mount. I
have not seem the inside of either first hand but have seen pictures
and the shutter mechanisms appear to be quite different.

I've liked my Hassy from the first shot onward but I'd be the first to
say that my use of the Hassy is not the reason my shots come out great.
Zeiss lenses are great and I love the way the camera works but I think
I'd be able to do as well with other cameras. i just like the Hassy.
